AEK preserved its perfect record in the Basket League with a close home win over Apollon Patras, but Korivos is evolving into the surprise team of the season, having just seen off Aris at Amaliada.

AEK was always the favorite in the game against improved Apollon Patras, but the visitors challenged the joint league leader all the way in Athens before succumbing 82-76 on Saturday.

AEK is now on six wins from as many games, while Panathinaikos – on five out of five – travels to Arkadikos on Monday.

Olympiakos had no problems at Trikala on Sunday, winning 89-69 even though coach Yiannis Sferopoulos rested Vassilis Spanoulis and used Giorgos Printezis for just four minutes.

The win of the weekend belongs to Korivos that defeated Aris 67-65 at home to climb to the fourth spot at the table, with four wins from six games.

Kifissia scored a precious away win downing Kavala 77-72 in overtime, while Lavrio produced its first ever home victory in the top flight, defeating Rethymno 67-65.

PAOK faced the risk of another home loss, but this time it came from behind to beat Kolossos Rhodes 64-59.
