The Cretan Brotherhood Youth Committee held a charitable book donation during its movie night screening of Hercules.

Aristea Nikolakakis of the Cretan Brotherhood Youth Committee told Neos Kosmos that, following the movie, the group “wanted to continue the theme of Greek stories into our donation, so we included some books about ancient Greece and some original Greek children’s books.”

There were 20 books donated to Brunswick Library, most of these translations of old favourites for children to use as aids in their studies of Greece and language learning.

“We felt that Greek language acquisition was something important that we wanted to support and do so in a way that would be more fun than traditional Greek School,” Ms Nikolakakis said.

“We hope the books can bring families together to help their children learn Greek, and keep Greek stories alive.”
