Greek Community of Melbourne raises funds for bushfire victims

More than 500 people gathered at the function aimed at gathering funds for bushfire victims in Australia.

The Greek Community of Melbourne and Victoria held the event at Chasers, with GCM President Bill Papastergiadis pleased with the unity shown by Greek Australians for those in need.

The evening was supported by numerous artists, such as DJs Nick Missailidis, Lambros, Artie K and Johnny G, Spasta Band, Nik M, Con Laz and Peter Kalliakoudis.

A total of $8,000 was gathered from the evening.

And I must say that the Con Laz speech just caps it all off spoken in raw emotion and why we we’re all there last night. I admit I was caught off guard with Costa’s deep conviction and raw pain. The bushfires have caught us all off guard where as a nation we must accept some responsibility for this tragedy. Global warming in real but so is human error contributing to the disasters. Our political appeasement towards the Green extremists but also to misinformation spruiked by both the far right denialists and the far left doomsdayers. I believe that Costas summed it up spot on with deep conviction & eloquence. Bravo Constantine excellent speech as was our President Papastegiadis speech.
