Greece is hitting the mark as a holiday hotspot for 2020 with the Dutch and Brits indicating a preference for Greece as a choice destination.

Greece won the Reisgraag Travel Award for best destination to visit for 2020 with an overall review of 8.4 out of 10.

Dutch visitors to Greece surpassed the one million mark in 2019, with Crete being the most preferred destination followed by Kos, Zakynthos, Rhodes and Corfu. On a second tier, the Dutch preferred Samos, Lesvos, Karpathos and Halkidiki.

Greece was also selected as the country with the ‘Best Nightlife’, earning a score of 7.8 out of 10 in over 7,600 reviews on the Reisgraag.nl website.

Dutch tourists used the words ‘fun’, ‘entertainment’ and ‘recreation’ to describe Greece, with Greek clubs and entertainment venues earning 8.6 out of 10 in reviews.

Brits

AlphaWise data on behalf of Morgan Stanley showed that Greece is a favoured destination for Brits in 2020. Undeterred by Brexit, British tourists put Greece high in the travel stakes when it came to choosing a holiday destination, at the highest level recorded in the past five years. Greece came in as a third preference behind Cyprus and Malta with more than 20 per cent.

In the next 12 months, 29 per cent of Brits said that plan to travel abroad compared to 73 per cent in 2019 and 68 per cent in 2018.
