An initiative of the Greek six-month presidency of the Council of Europe is a series of online discussions, titled “Talking to…”.

The purpose of these digital meetings is to bring the Council of Europe closer to society.

The first discussion kicked off with an opening speech by Greece’s Deputy Foreign Minister Miltiadis Varvitsiotis on Friday. He pointed out that the key focus of the Greek presidency is “the protection of human life and public health in conditions of pandemic – Effective management of a health crisis with full respect for human rights and the principles of democracy and rule of law.”

The first speaker of the series was Pathology and Infectious Diseases Professor Sotiris Tsiodras of the Medical School of EKPA.

The digital discussion was in English and broadcast live via livestreaming from the website of the Greek Presidency of the Council of Europe.
