Television gardening personality Costa Georgiadis is headlining a Junior Landcare team to promote a range of activities online to keep kids busy and interested during the school holidays.

Mr Georgiadis, a Junior Landcare ambassador and his team are promoting online activities that range from creating food gardens to attracting bees and other beneficial insects to your garden.

“Parents and carers who may not know a lot about food production, biodiversity, waste management and recycling or Indigenous perspective – the Junior Landcare Learning Centre will help you get started so you can also learn with your kids and share the experience,” said Junior Landcare program manager Jo Stentiford.

“Each learning activity includes an authentic story showcasing our Junior Landcare characters to help build formative memories. Meet Suyin, our biodiversity champion, Amir our waste management warrior, Beth the food production ambassador and Jarrah, Junior Landcare’s Indigenous perspectives leader.”

The website features 35 sustainability activities each running for about 30 minutes and which include easy-to-follow instructions as well as other related information and fun activities.

“What activity will you do these school holidays? Plant a food garden, create a worm farm or frog garden, or even start your own compost.  Junior Landcare helps young people play an active role in caring for the environment. You can explore the Junior Landcare Learning Centre at any time of the year for great ideas,” said Ms Stentiford.
