In her first official statement since quitting Cabinet, former Health Minister Jenny Mikakos told Neos Kosmos that she is grateful for the never ending support of her Greek Australian constituents.

“I am grateful to Victoria’s Greek community for their support during my 21 years as a parliamentarian,” she said.

“I have always felt proud of our community’s many achievements across every area of our society and have taken enormous satisfaction in being able to support our community on issues it cared about most, from supporting our cultural events, building projects, the needs of our elderly or the teaching of our language in schools.”

Adding that the members of the Greek Community will always be in her heart she said that “I have felt like I was your collective daughter and felt enormous pride when referred to as “Η Τζέvη μας”.

“The past week has been difficult personally but I’m looking forward to a new chapter of my life, including spending more time with my family. I hope to be able to support our community in new ways in the future.”
