State-run sites are offering vaccines from today, and GPs will be able to administer the vaccine to over 50s.

Chief Health Officer Brett Sutton has urged Victorians to book in for a vaccine.

From 7.30am Monday, six mass vaccine sites opened to every Victorian aged 50 and above, and another site is scheduled to open in Cranbourne on Tuesday morning. There will also be smaller sites, 22 in total, open to the public from Monday as well.

He said, “This ain’t a race or anything, but c’mon Victoria, let’s get vaccinated. It’s our path to safety,” he wrote on Twitter.

People over 50 are being vaccinated sooner to speed up the roll-out.

Victoria recorded one new infection in hotel quarantine, where there are currently 1,700 people in Victoria. The total number of active cases is at 21, and another 107 people are expected to arrive on international flights at Melbourne airport on Monday.
