SYRIZA-Progressive Alliance leader Alexis Tsipras underlined on Friday that need for the ratification of the three memoranda of cooperation between Greece and North Macedonian at a meeting with Prime Minister of North Macedonia Zoran Zaev.

“The Prespes Agreement is a historic Agreement, something that everyone understands now, even those that accused us,” pointed out Tsipras. “This step changed the region and we must maintain the dynamic it created for the stability and the access to the EU”.

On his part, Zaev said: “I am coming from Brussels and Madrid and everybody talks about the Prespes Agreement because we found a special way to think and to collaborate. This Agreement really changed the Balkans”.

Referring to the three memoranda, Zaev talked about “a promise” from Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis expressing his pleasure for it. “One is for the surveillance of North Macedonia’s aerial space in the context of NATO, the second on the support of the country’s EU prospect and the third on the economic cooperation, after all the Prespes Agreement marks a strategic partnership,” he said and characterised it ‘a differences resolution model’ because it proves that people looking to the future can move on, regardless of the political cost”.
