Australia and New Zealand will be hosts of this event, with both nations offering up 16 training bases for visiting players.

According to local paper The Leader, former Matildas midfielder and Sydney FC W-League captain Teresa Polias, who grew up in the southern suburbs, believes this will be the biggest event in the history of women’s football in Australia.

This Women’s World Cup will make history by being the event’s first ever Southern Hemisphere host, the first in the Oceania Football Confederation and the first to have 32 teams, eight more than the previous edition in France in 2019.
