Brimbank City Council has allocated $600,000 in grants for community groups, organisations and youth initiatives that have been affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Brimbank Council Community Recovery Grants includes the one-off Youth Support Grants allocation of $200,000 offered as part of the 2021-22 budget.

The council’s recovery grants programme is offered in five categories: Recovery Grants (up to $10,000); Establishment Grants (up to $1,000); Community Festival and Event Grants (up to $25,000); and Youth Support Grants (up to $15,000).

“I encourage local community groups to come to Council with clever and innovative ideas to support our community during this prolonged and devastating public health emergency, said the Mayor of Brimbank, Cr Ranka Rasic.

“Our community continues to suffer deterioration in mental, social and physical health, as well as economic hardship and financial stress arising from the COVID-19 pandemic.
