Television personality, gardening guru and landscape architect Costa Georgiadis will be leading proceedings during the 2021 National Landcare Conference and National Landcare Awards, which will be presented online next Thursday and Friday (5 and 6 August).

As the conference master of ceremonies and Landcare ambassador Mr Georgiadis will be introducing more than 60 speakers from across the country to the online conference which is open to all and at no charge.

“The National Landcare Conference is a timely opportunity for people interested sustainable land management and conservation activities on their farm or land, in an urban environment, along the coast or in their backyard, to come together to share ideas and experiences in an inspiring forum,” Mr Georgiadis said.

“Landcare has never been more important and relevant as we manage and plan for the future during uncertain times. It really is an honour to MC this event and I look forward to talking to all the speakers and delegates online.“

Deputy Prime Minister John Anderson will deliver the conference keynote address. Indigenous activist and climate action campaigner Dhani Gilbert, Australian National University scientist and academic Professor David Lindenmayer are will be among the speakers at the conference which will cover a range of topics including mental health and well being, bushfire recovery and resilience, empowering rural women and the challenges of climate change.

A panel discussion on integrating indigenous perspectives for better land management will be led by author, filmmaker and indigenous fire practitioner Victor Stoffensen, The Cultural Land Management panel will held near the close of the conference on Friday afternoon.

The 2021 National Landcare Awards Gala Dinner is scheduled to celebrate the 69 finalists of the 2019 State and Territory Landcare Awards. The winners of in nine categories of the awards will be announced then as will the winners of the Bob Hawke Landcare Award and the General Jeffery Soil Health Award .
