With anti-vaxx sentiment waning, the trajectory seems set for 80 per cent targets to be reached by 17 November to enable overseas travel again for the first time since March 2020.

NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian expressed “optimism” that at 70 per cent double dose, residents of NSW who have been vaccinated would enjoy more freedoms.

“That’s a commitment we’ve made from day one,” she said, pointing to the roadmap being “essentially in good shape” in the state as far as reaching vaccination targets is concerned.

With vaccination rates surging in western Sydney’s COVID hotspots with 85.7 per cent of people in the Blacktown council area having had at least one jab, it appears that NSW is on track as far as vaccination targets is concerned.

On 5 September, 38.4 per cent of the adult population was fully vaccinated, rising by 829,150 in a week, and the country hopes to have 90 per cent of the population fully vaccinated before Christmas.

Prognostics of the Department of Health show that 70 per cent vaccination targets will be reached by 30 October, 80 per cent by 17 November and 90 per cent by 4 December.
