Victoria’s Premier Daniel Andrews announced that the state government would be easing restrictions from Saturday, 18 September.

The announcement comes on the day with the highest COVID cases of Lockdown 6.0 at 514 cases (the highest since August last year), however coincides with a vaccination milestone as 69.2 per cent of people over the age of 16 have received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.

Previously, the state government had promised to lift restrictions once the target of 70 per cent was reached for the first dose of the violent. There will be more freedoms once 70-80 per cent of people are fully vaccinated.

The new freedoms are as follows:

• The five-kilometre movement radius will expand to 10 kilometres.
• Outdoor gyms and skateparks will reopen
• Four hours of exercise, instead of two, will be allowed per day
• Up to two people, plus a personal trainer, will be able to do sessions outdoors
• Up to two people will be able to gather outside socially for up to four hours, regardless of vaccination status
• Up to five fully vaccinated adults and their unvaccinated dependents will be able to gather outside socially for up to four hours, provided they are from no more than two separate households
• In-home childcare will be extended to families where only one parent is an essential worker
• In-person real estate inspections will return by appointment only
