The next round of the Multicultural Festival and Events (MFE)Program opened today for community organisations to deliver COVID-safe events between January and June, next year. Applications for the funding will close on Monday, 18 October

Victoria’s Minister for Multicultural Affairs Ros Spence announced today (Monday, 20 September) that grants worth up to $50,000 were available for events that promoted the sharing of cultures and the importance of community. Events that benefited new and emerging, and regional and rural communities would be prioritised.

The program offers grants between $2,000 and $50,000 to not for profit community organisations.

“The pandemic has shown how important community connections are, and this will support multicultural and multifaith communities to come together again – whether in-person or online. …Our connections to each other and our communities are crucial to our wellbeing,” Ms Spence said.

The effect of the pandemic had shown that the strengthening of community connections took many forms and organisations were encouraged to seek funding for events that would be held through online platforms.

The minister said last year cultural celebrations had continued to do well with many successful online events that had been funded through the program.

The funding would include a dedicated allocation of $50,000 to support organisations planning Hindu celebrations in line with the state government election commitment of $200,000 over four years to Hindu festivals and events.

This round of funding will include a dedicated allocation of $50,000 to support organisations planning Hindu celebrations as part of the Government’s election commitment of $200,000 over four years towards Hindu festivals and events.
