Victoria Police arrested 31 people today at Northcote Plaza shopping centre   with hundreds more arrested across the city as protesters attempted to continue this week’s anti-lockdown protests.

Various sources told Neos Kosmos   there were some persons of Greek background  among  the protestors who initially gathered in a car park next to the Northcote Plaza shopping centre, then moved to a nearby park

More than 100 police were deployed to the area and appeared to rapidly disperse the small crowd after they arrested 31 people.

Police said, “ a group of up to 80 demonstrators attended at a park on Separation Street and a nearby shopping centre this afternoon” in contravention of public health orders.

“Police responded quickly as small groups of protestors gathered throughout the afternoon in various locations,” Victoria Police said in a statement.

Because of the protests the  pop up vaccination clinic at the Greek Orthodox Church of St George in Thornbury closed on Friday. It will re-open on Monday.

The clinic, has been set up by the Greek Community of Melbourne (GCM) with the Victorian Government.

The Melbourne Town Hall vaccination centre and a drop-in health clinic for people experiencing homelessness opposite Queen Victoria Market have shut for at least four days.

Staff were spat on and had liquid thrown on them.

In total, 215 people will be fined for breaching public health orders across Melbourne, with a number of other people to be charged with criminal offences including deception, theft and drug offences.
