Victoria’s Minister of Community Sport Ros Spence has announced that applications are open for funding from the fourth round of the “Community Sport Sector Covid-19 Survival Package” worth $10 million, bringing the total support given to grassroots organisations to $50 million by the state government.

The package has provided support to more than 6,300 clubs, 430 leagues and associations, 75 state supporting associations, organisations and regional academies.

“Community sporting clubs are the backbone of many local communities and this will help support them through very tough times,” Ms Spence said.

“These clubs are a second home to many people and the support they receive is in effect support for the hundreds of thousands of players, volunteers and supporters who make these organisations so valuable.”

All clubs that have suffered losses in the current lockdown, including those which had successfully received grants in earlier rounds, were eligible to apply in this round.

In the fourth round clubs may apply for a grant of $1,500. Local leagues and associations were eligible for a grant worth $2,500 to cover costs and revenue lost as a result of cancellations in training, development programmes and competitions.

Previous recipients will be asked to respond to an email from Sport and Recreation Victoria by 29 October 2021 to receive their top-up grant.
