Fronditha Care opened its new 90-bed facility as St Albans on Tuesday. Sixty residents have moved into the new $22 million building that was completed ahead of schedule.

The CEO of Fronditha Care Faye Spiteri-Tsolakis OAM said great efforts were made by the organisation to ensure the new building would be ready despite COVID-19 induced obstacles. .

“Despite ongoing lockdowns and imposed restrictions, it has delivered the $22m project before its due date,” Ms Spiteri-Tsolakis said.

Along with providing a high standard of care, the new facility includes a private theatre, library, chapel, hair salon, as well as private function rooms and several garden and courtyard areas.

She added that the new facility also housed a 30-bed-memory support unit, that was designed in consultation with Dementia Australia. The unit will cater for elderly living with dementia and was dedicated to Evangelos and Elli Ioannou, who bequeathed $850,000 to Fronditha Care.
