PAOK made light work of Volos though they still have little room to breathe after their second-place rivals, AEK, ensured the gap stayed at just one point.

The Thessaloniki giants delivered a 0-4 away thrashing over the Magnesia club in the Hellenic Championship’s 19th round on Monday morning (AEDT), making it six straight league wins.

The travellers went ahead through midfielder Jasmin Kurtic (21’ pen.), defenders Sverrir Ingason (29’) and debutant Joan Sastre (64’), before striker Chuba Akpom’s finish (73’) wrapped up a supreme performance.

AEK preserved the pressure on PAOK as they secured a 0-2 success away to Atromitos. The visitors took a stranglehold of the game with goals to defender Georgios Tzavellas (22’) and winger Steven Zuber (51’). Tempers flared as Atromitos midfielder Juan Muniz suffered a red card (65’) for laying a fist on defender Lazaros Rota’s throat, capping off a poor night for the hosts.

Asteras Tripolis bagged a late winner through midfielder Jos Luis Valiente (88’) to down Apollon Smyrnis at home on Tuesday morning, taking them into sixth place.

Olympiacos produced a professional 2-0 home victory over PAS Giannina as they protected their unbeaten league campaign with relative ease. The league leaders struck early through winger Giorgios Masouras (4’) before forward Tiquinho Soares’ header (88’) buried the result.

Aris was held to a second consecutive 0-0 draw by Lamia in Thessaloniki as their push to enter the top six has been stymied once more.

Panathinaikos soundly defeated Ionikos 0-1 on Sunday morning in a match of few chances, with winger Aitor Cantalapiedra’s volley from close range (38’) proving enough for the Greens to earn just their second away victory this season.

Panetolikos continued their stellar week with a tremendous 2-4 away result against OFI, making it three consecutive wins. The Agrinio side claimed an early lead through midfielder Javier Mendoza’s rebound following his saved penalty (8’) before OFI midfielder Juan Neira equalised (43’).

Panetolikos regained the advantage through defender Derek Cornelius’ header (45’) and striker Nikos Karelis (53’) when Neira scored from range for his second (66’) right before he missed a penalty (81’). Substitute Nikos Vergos ensured the three points for the travellers (90+2’).

Asteras Tripolis and Apollon Smyrnis face off on Tuesday morning in the round’s final fixture.
