Back by popular demand, the festivities at the Agora will have more guests taste delicious Greek flavours, browse market stalls or enjoy music and dance performances with the National Museum of Australia (NMA) as a background.

In Ancient Greek times, the agora was much more than a market, for Athenians it became the centre of athletic, social, spiritual and political life.

In a similar way, this Saturday 9 April, the NMA is celebrating all things Greek and Greek-Australian with the sounds of Canberra’s Kefi Band and performances from the Australian Hellenic Choir.

In a family-friendly environment, adults get to immerse themselves in a variety of stalls held by artists and importers while children can try hands-on activities.

Everything from clothing, sweets and pastries, jewellery, perfume and beauty, to textiles, homewares, décor and culinary delights brought to the Museum by Broadbean Catering and other local providers in NMA’s Forecourt Garden will be available.

Anyone interested can get tickets at the door even though bookings ahead of time are strongly encouraged.

The Agora does not include access to the Ancient Greeks exhibition.
