Liverpool’s Greek left back Konstantinos Tsimikas is reported to be a target for Italian football giants Juventus according to Italian website Juve Dipendenza.

According to the website, the Italians are preparing to offer £11 million for the versatile Greek player who Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has described as “spectacular”. The Italians are reportedly looking to the “Greek Scouser” Tsimikas as a quality replacement for Luca Pelligrini who is rumoured to want to leave the Turin club at the end of the season.

While the reported fee seems a little light for player of Tsimikas’ proven quality, it is the amount that Liverpool paid Olympiacos for 25-year-old Greek international in 2020.

While having a quiet season last year, Tsimikas has proved himself an impressive understudy to Liverpool team regular Andy Robertson. In his 21 appearances for Liverpool this season, the Greek provided six assists and was named man of the match in the Champion’s League quarter final tie against Benfica earlier this month.

With Robertson being in top form, it is the lack of playing time with Liverpool and the promise of regular first-team appearances that could tempt Tsimikas to Italy, said Juve Dipendeza.

Tsimikas’s status as an understudy to Robertson is not a reflection of his value as a player but of the depth of the Liverpool squad with long-serving super-sub Divock Origi being a prime example.

While Tsimikas had a patchy start to his professional career beginning with Olympiacos, he moved to Denmark (to play for Esbjerg), and the Nertherlands (Willem) before returning for a successful two-year stint with the Red and Whites and earning a national call-up, before he was picked up by Klopp for Liverpool in 2020.
