Nick Kyrgios wowed the crowd at Wimbledon with his performance against No.26 seed Filip Krajinovic in the second round.

The Greek Australian eliminated his opponent in one hour and 25 minutes firing 24 straight aces and conceding only nine points winning 6-2 6-3 6-1.

He said he was disappointed by his first round performance, Kyrgios said that “I just wanted to remind everyone that I’m pretty good. I genuinely think this tournament is my best chance to win a Grand Slam”.

He trained for Wimbledon all year the 27-year-old said “…obviously I’ve got an incredibly tough draw still, but today I couldn’t have played better.”

Following his win, Kyrgios has pulled out of the best-of-five-sets doubles action with his best mate Thanassi Kokkinakis to concentrate on what could be his best charge yet at the singles crown against Stefanos Tsitsipas.

Kokkinakis confronted a superior Novak Djokovic who defeated him in straight sets 6-1, 6-4, 6-2.

“I just wasn’t able to execute,” Kokkinakis said.

“Wasn’t great from my end. It was pretty one-way traffic. It was frustrating. But, you know, yeah, got chopped today,” he admitted.

Early on Friday morning Greece’s Stefanos Tsitsipas defeated Australia’s Jordan Thompson 6-2, 6-3, 7-5.

World No.5 Tsitsipas dominated the entire match pushing out the Australian in straight sets.

His victory now sees him paired with a last-32 match with Kyrgios on Friday night. Last time the pair met on grass, earlier this month, Kyrgios defeated Tsitsipas.

Tsitsipas said he was looking forward to facing his old rival, saying: “we’ve had some great matches at many levels of competition … I have great respect for the way he fights when he really wants to.”

Last but not least, Maria Sakkari made it into the third round at Wimbledon on Thursday morning (Australia time) after defeating Bulgaria’s Viktoriya Tomova in straight sets by 6-4, 6-3.

The World No.5 dominated the match from the beginning, securing an easy win even though the Bulgarian serves some hard-hitting points.

Sakkari was able to break Tomova twice in the next round and moved fast and efficiently to not allow her opponent a chance.

She will now have to face German Tatjana Maria on Friday night, an important match that could see her through to the Round of 16 for the first time.

“I’m just enjoying my game on the grass because there were certain people saying I could never play on the grass, but I believe that I really can because I’m a good mover, I have a good serve,” Sakkari said after the match.
