Melbourne audiences will have the opportunity to experience a night of Greek music, as laiko singer Vasilis Batis will perform at Trak Lounge Bar on November 26.

Vasilis Batis was born in Kavala, but grew up in a village near Xanthi. By the time he was a teenager, he had already learned various musical instruments and started taking part in festivals and other events. After finishing high school, he took part in his first audition in Xanthi, where he took his first steps in the music industry in 1994.

He has collaborated with many renowned artists such as Oikonomopoulos, Gonidis, Angela Dimitriou and others.

Many of his songs such as “Zimia“, “Eimai kapsouris“, “Eho hara kai pao” and “To Mandili” have seen success..

Maria Ioannidou, a talented artist who has recorded with MINOS and has collaborated with big names of the Greek music scene such as Nikos Vertis, Nikos Kourkoulis, Valantis, Vassilis Karras and many others, will be accompanying Batis at his Melbourne concert.

For Maria, music has been a big part of her life since childhood, as both her parents are singers. She is originally from Kilkis and started her career in singing there.

She participated in The Voice in 2015, where she impressed the judges, with Despina Vandi stating that Maria’s voice resembles that of Jenny Vanou.
