Melbourne-based performance company Head First Acrobats will be presenting their latest ancient Greek-inspired performance at the upcoming Adelaide Fringe Festival.

Titled ‘GODZ’ in an apparent wordplay, the R18+ rated show promises to treat audiences to “a hedonistic dive head-first into the lives of the ancient gods of Olympus”.

The group of comedy acrobats use a mix of storytelling, circus acts and gravity-defying stunts to portray tales of heroic strength alongside slapstick comedy elements.

Ancient Greece sets the scene with muscular performers taking on roles of gods, deities and heroes, including Cupid and Hercules.

GODZ had an award-winning premiere season last year, scoring the People’s Choice Award at the 2022 Melbourne and Wynnum Fringe Festivals, and the Best Circus at the Fringe World festival 2022 among others.

GODZ is also one of the big hitters of the Head First Acrobats, alongside other adult shows Elixir and Railed. But the group say they also present children’s and family entertainment.

The roughly one-hour performance will be showing between Tuesday 21 February and Sunday 19 March at The Vault @ Fool’s Paradise in Victoria Square.
