Eleftheria Arvanitaki, one Greece’s most successful contemporary singers, is returning to Australia to perform three live concerts in March and April.
Her soft but powerful vocals, combined with a captivating stage presence have established her as one of the biggest selling artists over the past decades.
According to promoter Giant Entertainment audiences will have the chance to enjoy hits such as “I Akti”, “Ta Kormia kai ta Machairia”, “Dynata Dynata” and “Meno Ektos” during the concerts.

MOMENTS OF TRUTH – MEMORIES OF GREECE & AUSTRALIA BOOK PRESENTATION
The book ‘Moments of Truth – Memories of Greece and Australia’ by Litsa Nikolopoulou-Gogas translated into English by Konstandina Dounis will be officially launched on the afternoon of Sunday, 12 February 2023 at the Pallaconian Brotherhood in Brunswick by Professor of History at the University of Melbourne and Director of the Institute for Humanities and Social Sciences at the Australian Catholic University, Joy Damousi. Mr John Sachinidis, Treasurer of the Hellenic Writers Association will officiate over the proceedings. Light refreshments will be provided. This is an open to all event.

KIDS’ GREEK DANCE CLASSES @ the KAZZIE CLUB
An opportunity to have children learn the culture of their ancestors is opening through the Kastellorizian Association of Victoria in February. The classes will take place at the Templestowe Memorial Hall, are free and open for all.

For the Greek Community living in Australia, the Lonsdale Street Festival is a must-attend event that celebrates the rich culture and food of Greece and alternative Greek singer Alkistis Protopsalti as the headliner. The festival brings together Greek Australians to share the very best of Greece’s culture: think food, competitions and fun activities for the kids. Delicious food is part and parcel of Greek’s amazing culture, so it is little wonder that an integral part of the festival is the various food stalls that dot the streets. Live entertainment is constituted of both local and international acts and the line-up changes each year. Lonsdale Street Festival has various activities in which kids to enjoy from arts, to face painting and balloon sculpting. Storytelling at the festival is also quite popular for the little ones who enjoy reading and there will also be rides.

KO WAI KOE? WHO ARE YOU?: ATHENS, AOTEAROA & THE ART OF MARIAN MAGUIRE
Who Are You?: Athens, Aotearoa & the Art of Marian Maguire showcases a selection of artworks by New Zealand artist Marian Maguire at the Hellenic Museum. Drawn from several of Marian’s series of works, including The Odyssey of Captain Cook, The Labours of Herakles, Titokowaru’s Dilemma, and A Taranaki Dialogue, Who Are You? seeks to open a discussion on identity and its intersection with history and myth. British, Māori and ancient Greek cultures collide in Marian’s works. This triad of cultures opens a visual conversation that touches on colonialism, memory, cultural interaction, history and myth, and invites viewers to consider how these factors contribute to the construction of identity on a personal, cultural and national level.

VASILIS TSABROPOULOS & NEKTARIA KARANTZI LIVE
Internationally renowned Greek musicians Vassilis Tsabropoulos and Nektaria Karantzi are coming to Melbourne for a one-night-only live performance combining Western musical culture and Eastern tradition. The virtuoso pianist, composer and conductor will be joining forces with the acclaimed vocalist immersing their Melbourne audience in the sacredness of ecclesiastical music at the Hellenic Museum on Saturday, 1 April. Off the back of a successful European tour, the duo will travel from Greece for an intimate live show to be held in the museum’s courtyard supported by the Holy Trinity Brunswick – Serbian Orthodox Choir.

THANOS PETRELIS IN CANBERRA
Due to popular demand Greek singing sensation Thanos Petrelis will be returning to Australia in February 2023. The laiko singer is set to entertain audiences in four states. Petrelis was born in Athens, Greece. He finished third in the first Greek reality show Fame Story in 2002, which launched his singing career.
With four successful albums, three of which went gold and one platinum status, several hit singles, his songs and shows continue to be crowd favourites. Since breaking out in the Greek music scene, Petrelis has remained on the airways, club DJ’s playlists and is frequently on tour in America, Canada, London and Australia. Get ready to start the new year in good spirits dancing and singing at a Thanos Petrelis concert.
