Panathinaikos is preparing for their toughest fixture of the season when they travel to face Olympiacos and the pressure is sky-high as the Greens look to secure their first premiership since 2010.

The “Trifylli” takes on their eternal enemies at “Georgios Karaiskakis” Stadium on Sunday morning (AEDT) in the most anticipated match of the Greek Super League’s 24th round, and possibly the most high-stakes contest between the two bitter rivals in years.

Panathinaikos has not been in a better spot to win the championship in more than a decade, adding further value to pulling off a major scalp in this epic clash which would greatly boost their chances of finishing first.

Olympiacos has plenty to fight for themselves as a victory would keep them firmly in the running for their fourth consecutive league title, thus ensuring that there is far more than just bragging rights at stake for this derby.

AEK will be keenly monitoring this battle, though they will first have to defeat Asteras Tripolis in their meeting at “Agia Sophia” ground, with Enosi looking to bounce back immediately from their tough loss last weekend at “Toumba”.

PAOK travels to face Giannina and, after beating AEK last round ensured they too remain well in contention of becoming champions, they will be keen to maintain their great form and head into the play-offs with momentum.

Volos is aiming to down Lamia at home on Saturday morning which would all but guarantee them of a top six finish, while the Fthiotida outfit is desperately scrambling for a positive result with relegation looming large.

Aris challenges Atromitos at “Kleanthis Vikelidis” Stadium on Monday morning in another key encounter wherein the yellow-blacks could effectively eliminate any possibility of their opponents taking their play-offs spot if they win.

Panetolikos goes away to Levadiakos and the Agrinio side will be extra motivated to ensure a success as they are still mathematically a chance of finishing in the top six, though they would need other results to go their way.

Ionikos hosts OFI and the Nikaia club will no doubt be ready to fight for all three points in a bid to improve their position before heading into the play-outs, sitting currently just three points ahead of last-placed Lamia.
