The Psaltries Choir of Melbourne are excited as they prepare to sing live at the courtyard of the Hellenic Museum next week.

They will be part of a sold-out concert Between East and West featuring internationally renowned Greek musicians, Vassilis Tsabropoulos and Nektaria Karantzi, both coming to Australia from Greece, for the one-night-only performance on Saturday April 1.

Accompanying the all female choir, will be Sava Djukic, who has carved out a 30 year career as a cellist.

According to the local coordinator of the ensemble, Ioanna Nikoloulea, virtuoso pianist, Vassilis Tsabropoulos, wote a moving even wrote a score for the Djukic to accompany the psalm.

It has been a busy time since the the Melbourne-based Women in Byzantine Music Worldwide Association won the Chanting Excellence Award at the international Orthodox Arts Festival in October 2022.

The Psaltries, Ioanna Nikoloulea, Kyriaki Tsagalidis, Kaliroy Kanavos Kirkopoulos, and Georgia Vogdanis, are often invited to sing at ceremonies and rehearse under the direction of renowned female chanter, Nektaria Karantzi.

Last week the Psaltries Choir of Melbourne released a new video singing “Let all in Heaven rejoice” (Ευφραινέσθω τα Ουράνια). The video was filmed around the coast of Sandringham.
