Greece’s high hopes for Eurovision glory were dashed as 16-year-old Victor Vernikos and his song ‘What They Say’ failed to secure a place in the highly anticipated 67th Eurovision final.

The prestigious event, set to take place at Liverpool’s M&S Bank Arena on Saturday, 13 May will see Greece absent from the spotlight.

On the other hand, Cyprus celebrated their success as Andrew Lambrou, a 22-year-old expat from Sydney, captured a spot in the final with his captivating performance of ‘Break a Broken Heart’.

Lambrou’s atmospheric and seductive song impressed the judges and secured Cyprus a place in the grand finale. It’s worth noting that Australia, also represented by an expat, successfully qualified for the final.

The public had the final say in determining the ten countries that would receive coveted tickets to the Eurovision final.

The qualifying countries, announced in the following order are:

1. Albania: Albina & Familja Kelmendi – ‘Duje’

2. Cyprus: Andrew Lambrou – ‘Break a Broken Heart’

3. Estonia: Alika – ‘Bridges’

4. Belgium: Gustaph – “Because of You”
