Darwin put its Greek on last weekend kicking off its annual Darwin Greek GleNTi Festival with thousands of people filling up the city’s Esplanade.

Northern Territory enjoyed a weekend of music, dancing and Greek delicacies like lamb yiros and chicken on the spit, loukoumades to name a few, in a festival organised by the Greek Orthodox Community of Northern Australia.

The free event welcomed everyone, offering activities for the entire family, from face painting, balloon making and performances by Peter Rabbit. A stall by the famous ‘Honey Puff King’ became an attraction, selling Greek ice coffee, honey puffs, baklava and Greek vanilla slice.

Meanwhile, performances from the Greek Traditional Dance Group, the Cyprus Community Dance Group and the OPA School of Hellenic Dance Group took everyone’s breath away.

DJ Rossi Kourounis also entertained the crowds with his upbeat and eccentric tunes.

Among the festival’s special guests was also famous singer Dimitris Basis supported by the GleNTi All Star Band.
