Greece’s national basketball team did not manage to secure a place in the upcoming Olympic games due to take place in Tokyo at the end of July.

The Czech Republic became the final team that secured its place by crushing Greece in the Final of the Olympic Qualifying Tournament in Victoria, Canada.

With a score of 97-72, the team officially advanced to the Olympic Games.

Greece’s Coach Rick Pitino wrote on Twitter that the “veteran team took advantage” of the Greek team “in a lot of different areas.”

The Czech team dominated Greece from start to finish and led by as many as 32 points to cruise to an easy win in one of the biggest matches in the history of the national team.

It is the team’s first trip to the Olympics since the separation of Czechoslavakia.

The team will be in Group A at the Tokyo Games and will face Iran on 25 July, France on 28 July and the US on 31 July.

The four teams that reached the Olympic Games are Germany, Slovenia, Italy and the Czech Republic.
