There is nothing more special than when a community rallies together to do good in the world.
The Ladies Auxiliary of St Anna Parish-Community organised a morning tea at the Hellenic Function Centre and were joined by 125 enthusiastic people, who gathered to raise money for an ECG machine desperately needed by Gold Coast University Hospital’s oncology department.
The morning tea hosted nurse Debbie Royal who works at the front line in the Oncology Unit along with Shaelene Hancock and Tegan Parker who work with the Gold Coast Hospital Foundation.

Also in attendance on the day were Parish priest, Reverend Father Romanos Stergiou, President of Gold Coast Greek Community, James Nides and Anthi Nides. Ladies Auxiliary members prepared all the tempting food with the help of a donation made by Charis Seafood at Labrador. The members also extended their thanks to each donor of the raffle prizes.
In previous years, donations of CADD pumps, a chemotherapy chair and monetary donations for the Cancer Transport Service have been made. Ladies Auxiliary President, Thalia Zakos noted that the community really wanted to make up for the missed year of fundraising which was cancelled due to COVID-19.
Over $10,000 was raised, enabling the purchase of the desired machine. The St Anna Parish-Community were incredibly grateful for all who attended and those who made donations towards such a great cause.
