NSW Health Minister Brad Hazzard says people critically ill with COVID-19 are being hidden from authorities, as the state recorded another death and 210 new infections.

A south-west Sydney man in his 60s who died in his home yesterday became the 14th fatality linked to the state’s Delta outbreak, which began on June 16.

Health Minister Brad Hazzard said the vast majority of the new cases were from southwest and western Sydney.

Mr Hazzard said the number of younger people in intensive care was “extremely concerning”.

Two new Covid cases as Doncaster supermarket listed as exposure site

Southeast Queensland will be plunged into another snap lockdown from Saturday afternoon as Victoria recorded two new cases of coronavirus.

Following news of six locally acquired cases of the Delta strain being reported in Queensland today, Deputy Premier Steven Miles has announced 11 local government areas in south-east Queensland will go into lockdown from this afternoon.

The Queensland government says it is going into a “hard and fast” lockdown to target the outbreak, which along with the case announced yesterday, totals seven cases in the cluster.

Victoria has recorded two new cases of coronavirus in the past 24 hours.

Both infections are linked to the current outbreaks.

However, only one was in isolation throughout their entire infectious period.

It comes as Doncaster supermarket has emerged as the latest Tier 1 exposure site after the second Moonee Valley-linked case attended the store while infectious.
