HACCI’s Excellence Awards Gala Ball for 2013 was held last Friday at the Grand Hyatt Melbourne, with more than 400 guests in attendance.
Commerce and industry leaders of the Greek Australian community, along with notable guests, the Speaker of the Legislative Assembly in Victoria the Hon. Ken Smith, the President of the Legislative Council in Victoria, the Hon. Bruce Atkinson and the Consul General of Greece in Melbourne Ms Eleni Lianidou were all there to acknowledge the achievers of the year.
The Hellenic Australian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (HACCI) Excellence awards for 2013 went to the following recipients: The Spyros Stamoulis Award for Lifetime Achievement was presented to Emeritus Professor of Nuclear Physics and former Head of the Department of Nuclear Physics at the Australian National University, George Dracoulis.
The Award for Community Service was presented to Melbourne composer Peter Mousaferiadis, while Spiros Alysandratos, general manager of Consolidated Travel, was the recipient of the HACCI Business Excellence Award.
The award for Professional Excellence was given to director and producer Peter Andrikidis. Recipient of the Young Achievers Award went to young tennis player Nicholas Kyrgios, winner of the boys singles event at the 2013 Australian Open and the boys doubles event at the 2013 Wimbledon Championships.
