Australian designer Sophia Kapiris has been given a huge celebrity boost, with Khloe Kardashian wearing one of her deigns at a Hollywood event.

Kapiris’ label, SCK, was launched just last November and has amassed quite a following in Australia and around the world thanks to the red carpet nod.
Known for their bright colours and plunging necklines, Kapiris’ dresses are currently only sold in two shops, in NSW and in South Australia, with most of her sales happening online.

Kapiris stated sewing at a young age and is still self-taught. Apart from her business partner and cousin Leannda Kapiris, she says she is the only one in her family with a fashion obsession.

“I’m the only person in the family to have a passion for fashion – my family farm tomatoes and zucchinis,” she told Adelaide Now.

The 24-year-old designer featured her designs in the SA Fashion Flaunt event in Unley, South Australia last week.

Her designs are already becoming popular in Dubai and London while branching out in the USA, Europe and Asia.

Kapiris says her designs are made with women’s figures in mind rather than adapting to what’s on trend.

“For me it’s never about following a trend, or just creating a pretty dress, the thought always goes into making sure I tick all the right boxes for the women I am designing for,” she says on her website.
“It’s important to create designs that enhance a woman’s body and make her feel confident while she is wearing it. A design to me is not complete unless the woman who wears it stands out in a big crowd, that’s when I know I have done my job as a designer.”
