Heroes and kings, gods, goddesses and mortals, battles, tricks, challenges, a labyrinth, donkey’s ears, a spider, a princess and a beast with a taste for Athenians…Who doesn’t like a good story?

Greek Myths @ Open Marrickville is an opportunity for children and families to dip into the realm of Ancient Greek Mythology with three inspired events: a storytelling show, a drama workshop and a craft workshop.

Kids aged 5-12 can get crafting with a mask and head-dress making workshop at 11am. Following this, families can experience the myths of King Midas, Arachne, and Theseus and the Minotaur told through live performance accompanied by the sounds of kanun and kaval – the traditional Eastern instruments of lap zither and wooden flute. For those die hard mythology fans that want a piece of the action, there is a drama games workshop immediately after the show, suitable for ages 5-12.

Greek Myths @ Open Marrickville is presented by the Arts Diaspora cultural organisation and is sponsored by Marrickville Council.

When: Saturday 21 June, at 11.00 am Craft workshop; at 1.00 pm Storytelling show; at 2.15 pm Drama workshop
