A new opinion poll conducted in September showed opposition party SYRIZA ahead of conservative New Democracy. The survey was carried out by a University of Macedonia research institute on behalf of Skai.

With regard to pledges voiced by SYRIZA chief Alexis Tsipras at the annual fair, 28 per cent believe they were in the right direction, while 53 per cent said the proposals could not be implemented. Nineteen percent of respondents felt that SYRIZA’s proposals were a step backwards for the country.
