Members of the Oakleigh East community are being asked to come forward with any information regarding shots fired in the early morning on Friday.
Detectives from the Monash Crime Investigation Unit say shots were fired at a vehicle parked in Oakleigh East.
The incident happened on Dublin Street about 2.30am before the offenders fled the scene.
No one was injured in the incident.
Police would like to speak to anyone who saw a white AU Ford station wagon in the area at the time.
Detectives have released CCTV images in the hope that someone may have seen the vehicle in the area.
