It’s easy to become a local in Athens. That’s what marketing NGO Discover Greece is hoping to prove with its new campaign, “I’m an Athenian too!”.

Backed by Neos Kosmos, the campaign is reaching out to tourists from around the world, asking them to share their best photographic representations Athens in their travels. The most impressive and most liked photos on social media will go in the running to win an all expenses paid trip to Athens.

All you need to do is upload one of your Athenian travel photos , add a stamp through their Athenian app, place the hashtag #ImanAthenian and share it on social media.

Make it into the top 100 trending photos and you’ll be asked to share your story of what inspires you most about Athens.

The three most inspiring authors will win a holiday for two in Athens.

The new campaign is joining forces with Athens International airport and is backed up with a cute video. It follows a young Australian tourist who happens to be flicking through his photos at the airport, when a Greek man sits next to him and catches a glimpse of his photos.

After introducing himself, he says “You’re an Athenian too!”.

The campaign is aimed at showing a side of Athens that tourists themselves find interesting, not the predetermined aspects of the city like its big monuments.

Looking at the growing feed, lots of graffiti, underground bars and scrumptious food photos are making the rounds, showing beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

“We know that learning about history is one thing, but living it quite another,” the campaign says.

“We recognise the Athenian living in every one of you.”

The 20 stamps provided also help bring together the campaign, with illustrated slogans like ‘Stay Calm and Come to Athens’, ‘Talk Greek to Me’, and ‘I have Athens All Over Me’. Most of the slogans mix English and Greek letters to make the stamp more authentic.
