After starring in David Mamet’s Pulitzer Prize-winning play Glengarry Glen Ross, Alex Dimitriades is to become the principal next to Aden Young, for SBS’s new 2015 drama.

The new series, entitled The Principal, is set against the backdrop of a boys’ high school in turmoil in South West Sydney. The Principal is a four-part series centring on a student’s death which took place under suspicious circumstances. Alex Dimitriadis has also reunited with his old Heartbreak High cast mate, Salvatore Coco – who played Costa ‘Con’ Bordino on the teen show – and is already filming exciting murder-mystery episodes in Sydney.

The Principal is just one of 26 new commissions announced as part of the 2015 SBS line-up. Bringing justice to its ‘Diversity Matters’ motto, SBS has unveiled a program that will hope to present the bigger picture in foreign and current affairs while reflecting the nation’s modern and multicultural identity.
SBS managing director Michael Ebeid said the programming is a way to present a new multicultural demographic that Australia is embracing.

“We are an irreplaceable part of today’s multicultural Australia, the network perfectly positioned to reflect our diversity and we are looking forward to a strong, dynamic 2015.”

Some of the most anticipated series for 2015 are The Legacy, Mammon, Rectify, Fargo, Masters of Sex, Go Back To Where You Came From and Who Do You Think You Are?. There will also be landmark documentaries like Shaun Micallef’s Stairway to Heaven, After the Wave, The Great Australian Race Riot, Prison Songs, Angry Mile, Struggle Street and Richard Hammond’s Wildest Weather. Room 101, hosted by Paul McDermott, will hit the screens with a refreshing take on celebrity interview, while Eurovision, RocKwiz Salutes The Decades, Brooklyn Nine-Nine and Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras will be back for fans.

Those sports-inclined won’t miss out, with SBS booked to bring the 2014/15 Hyundai A-League final, the 2014/15 UEFA Champions League final, the 2014/15 Europa League finals, the Matildas’ games at the 2015 Women’s FIFA World Cup, not to mention all the cycling season’s action from Europe’s Grand Tours: the 2015 Vuelta a Espana, the 2015 Giro d’Italia and the 2015 Tour de France.
