The Hawthorn Spartans have welcomed some big talent to their pool of 2015 players, with Carlton great Ang Christou and former Hawthorn player Angelo Lekkas joining the ranks.

The two will help the team invaluably in the top Division of the VAFA Club 18 Section, where it will face a number of private schools and more fierce opponents than last year.

Club general manager George Demetriou told Neos Kosmos that he hopes more Greek Australian fans will come watch the club play and become fans of amateur football with the inclusion of the former AFL players.

The younger players in the team are also benefiting from having the two players as role models, with the two instilling their years of experience on the squad.

The Spartans are rightfully chasing another year of big results, buoyed by last year’s minor premiership and reaching their fourth straight grand final.

The team has been in pre-season training since November, and have been training every Wednesday for a number of months at Alphington Grammar’s ovals.

As the season start nears, the club is still on the lookout for quality talent to join their grassroots team.
