Former Socceroo Kimon Taliadoros has been named as the new president of the Football Federation of Victoria (FFV), while fellow Greek Australian Nicholas Tsiaras joins the board.

Taliadoros says he’s honoured to take the reins for the next four years.

“I’m truly humbled to have been elected to such an important position in Australian football,” Taliadoros said.

“It’s time for the sport to unite behind a common cause, supporting the growth and prosperity of the game, and continue on the path to making Victoria the premier football state in Australia.”

Speaking to Neos Kosmos in March, Taliadoros spoke of his desire to work with all grassroots clubs collaboratively and improve the NPL structure and facilities around Victoria.

He takes the reins of the FFV after a tumultuous couple of years where the federation was taken to court over their suggested NPL structure.

Taliadoros returns to the FFV after being a board member in 2014. He was the inaugural CEO of the Professional Footballers’ Association (PFA), and helped establish strategic plans for Victoria’s largest community club Brighton SC, as well as major Mildura club Three Colours FC.

He also had nine appearances for the Socceroos, as well as more than 240 appearances in the NSL.

Nicholas Tsiaras has managed and run both Collingwood City FC and Box Hill United SC and has extensive experience in business management and finance.
