Greeks are the most pessimistic European citizens when it comes to their perceptions of the social protection provided by the state, their financial situation, cost of living and the efficiency of public administration, according to the results of a Eurobarometer survey released last week.
On a scale of -10 to +10, Greeks express the lowest degree of satisfaction with their life, along with the equally glum Bulgarians and Hungarians.
Greeks reported being dissatisfied with their personal situation (ranking -0.6 on the scale, as compared to an average of +3.2 among the 27 European Union member states), their professional situation (-1.4, against +1.4 in the EU) and the financial position of their household (-1 against +1.2).
Greeks, Bulgarians and Hungarians also score lowest regarding expectations for their financial situation (-4 against a -1.5 EU average).
As for cost of living, Greeks are joined by Hungarians in the misery stakes, both scoring -6.1, against an EU average of -3.
