Perth’s Zorba dance will aim to break the largest dance world record this year at the Perth Glendi festival in a fun filled day of Hellenic culture, music and of course food, on Sunday, 26 April at Russell Square in Northbridge.

In addition to two live bands, Anastasis Karamintzas, a young local bouzouki virtuoso, will also be performing at the festival.

Anastasis is 13 years old and moved to WA with his family from Greece. He wowed Perth audiences recently when he took the stage along side a national comedy legend at two sold out theatre shows.

The event will be offering traditional and mouth-watering Greek food and sweets and celebrity cooking demonstrations by local celebrity chefs, Peter Manifis and Theo Kalogeracos, along with former West Coast Eagle, Andrew Embley. Another special guest flying over from Adelaide to showcase his culinary talents, is George Diakomichalis.

A group of Greek ladies will be holding cooking and pastry demonstrations throughout the festival, whilst making sure there are enough traditional Greek sweet treats on offer.

A long line of market stalls will lead to the beach style chill out bar where visitors can relax while young children explore the thrills of fun fair and the animal farm getting free face painting.

Funds raised from the Zorba dance will be donated to the Fiona Wood Foundation and all other proceeds from the festival will be sent to various not-for-profit organisations.

The Hellenic Community of WA will begin ‘The Perth Glendi Greek Festival’ celebrations at 11:00 am until 8:00 pm.
