With rain bucketing down and a sombre mood, over 70 members of the Hellenic RSL’s Victorian branch took part in a special centenary Anzac Day Parade.

The weather didn’t stopped the 80,000 crowd at the Melbourne Shrine of Remembrance attending the dawn service, and over 100.000 watched the march later in the morning.

The Hellenic RSL is the only Greek organisation that is allowed to march on this special day.

After the march, all members returned to the RSL Club house for lunch and some speeches were made towards the Gallipoli Campaign.

During the eight months fighting at Gallipoli 8,700 Australians died and 27,000 were wounded.

Only one Greek born Australian died at Gallipoli in the Australian Forces.

Peter Rados was born in Athens in 1893. He enlisted in New South Wales on the 18th August 1914 at the age 23, and he embarked from Sydney for Gallipoli on 20th October 1914. He served with the 3rd Battalion 1st Infantry Brigade, and was killed in action on the 19th May 1915. He is Buried at ANZAC Cemetery, ANZAC Cove Gallipoli.
