For Malcolm Carver, his travels have not only opened his eyes to new destinations and ways of life, but have also brought out a new side of his creativity.

Known for capturing the essence of his travels through watercolour paintings and drawings, following the success of his previous solo exhibitions the next instalment is dedicated to his time spent on the Greek Islands.

With images dating back to 1975, when Carver first set foot in the Greek Mediterranean waters, the ‘Greek Islands’ exhibition includes more than 60 works.
The artist’s most recent trip to the region in April 2014 focuses on the Dodecanese Islands, a group of islands situated close to Turkey and considered by the artist to be delightfully less busy than Mykonos and Santorini.

An architect by trade, Carver’s eye for detail is naturally drawn to the detail in buildings and the way the light falls.

By coupling his natural ability with a passion for watercolour painting and drawing, the artist has gone on to present a number of solo exhibitions in Sydney, Italy, China and North Africa, in addition to teaching workshops around the globe.

For those interested, a sketchbook including all the works on display at the exhibition will also be available.

Malcolm Carver’s ‘Greek Islands’ exhibition will be open from 5-30 May 2015 at the Art Atrium, 181 Old South Head Road, Bondi Junction, NSW 2022.
