It’s been two months since The Legend Project was launched and it is gathering strong support.

The crowd funded social enterprise encourages people to buy a Legend bag for $ 20 and the proceeds for each sale provide for a similar bag, filled with basic necessities, for a person living on the street.

Founder of the project, footballer Jamie De Smit says the response from the public has been great.

“We’ve raised $1400 from crowdfunding. Raised $1280 from bag sales.

“64 bags sold, 11 given out.”

He adds, “The recipients have been really supportive and surprised because they often get a bit of money thrown at them-maybe some food. But we sit down with everyone we give a bag to, and have a chat for half an hour. See how they’re going, what they’ve been up to. And then we hand the bag to them. A lot are really surprised and thankful. They go through the bag and say this is really useful stuff..food water, hygiene products.”

“It’s been a crazy couple of months! We have been blown away by the response so far. We are now looking to approach clubs, academies and other sport businesses to buy bulk orders of bags for 2016!”

The project is also looking to get Sports celebrities on board.
