The University of Melbourne is preparing to hold its annual Classics Summer School in 2016.

Coordinator Dr Christopher Gribbin is excited to once again be bringing the ancient Greek and Roman world to life with a series of short courses open to anyone with an interest in the classics.

Each course will give you the chance to explore a different facet of the Greek, Roman and Byzantine world, including history, society, philosophy, art and architecture.

Four subjectwill be offered this summer, including:

– ‘A Social History of Ancient Greece from 750-300BC’;
– ‘Architecture from Pagan Rome to Christianity’;
– ‘Beginning to Philosophise with the Ancient Greeks’;
– ‘How to Argue Like Socrates’.

There’s no mistaking Dr Gribbin’s passion for the classics, with extensive experience in the field, some of his recent activities have included running regular Socratic discussion groups at Melbourne’s Hellenic Museum.
