The Greek voice is to become louder, as the Ethnic Communities Council of Victoria (ECCV) welcomes its newest members, Peter Mousaferiadis and Kris Pavlidis.

As a peak umbrella Victorian advocacy organisation for ethnic communities, working closely with the government and various organisations in the advancement of policy, resources and opportunities for ethnic communities throughout the state, ECCV is one of the most important agents of multiculturalism.

The inclusion of two new Greek members is a step forward in the further pursuit of the interests of the broader Greek community. The new members are prominent representatives of the broader Greek community, who have made their mark in their respective fields. Newly elected to the ECCV board, Mr Mousaferiadis is the founder and CEO of Cultural Infusion, a social enterprise that works with schools, youth, and the arts to promote cultural harmony for a more cohesive and richer society.

The second new member, Councillor Pavlidis, who was nominated to the ECCV by a Greek Welfare Society and local government representative, holds the distinction of being the first woman of Greek heritage to be named mayor for the City of Whittlesea, in 2006.

She was honoured on Thursday night by the Municipal Association of Victoria for ten years of outstanding service, having served as a councillor from 2005 for three terms.
