As one of the most culturally diverse countries in the world, the number of mixed marriages is on the rise.

To help better understand the issues that can arise within these relationships, as part of the Australian Greek Welfare Society’s (AGWS) Family & Relationships program, they will be hosting a workshop with a focus on ‘Understanding Cross-Cultural Relationships’.

This workshop is specifically designed for young couples who are in relationships where each partner is of a different ethnic or religious background.

Taking place at the AGWS in Brunswick, topics to be covered include understanding cross-cultural differences such as gender roles and parenting styles; dealing with conflict about cultural and religious expectations; ways of communicating effectively, expressing anger and patterns of negative behaviour; along with standing up for yourself without offending.

Being aware of the potential issues that can arise, allows greater opportunity to work through them, resulting in a healthier and more fulfilling relationship.

The workshop will be taking place on Thursday 24 March at the AGWS, 7 Union Street, Brunswick, VIC from 6pm-9pm. Places are limited. For further details and to RSVP (essential) call Kia Antoniadis or Adonis Maglis on (03) 9388 9998.
