Last month Rania Zorbas, Sharyn Zdunic and Helen Panayiotou hosted Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea to show their support to the Cancer Council Foundation and those affected by the illness.

Over the years, the event has helped raise much needed funds for world class research, prevention programs and support services for cancer patients and their families.

Last year, Rania and Helen hosted the tea for their immediate family and friends. Held at Rania’s home, with just over 80 ladies in attendance they managed to raise $3300. But this time around they decided to take it to the next level.

“We knew by last year’s success, that this year was going to require a venue large enough for us to host our event. This year fortunately enough, Sharyn was on board. An amazing contributor and support person,” says Helen.

The ladies were lucky enough to secure a hall, where they hosted over 200 attendees, managing to raise a total of $11,664.

“We each spent months drumming up donations which included food, drinks and prizes totalling 84 raffle, six silent auctions and six live auctions,” said Helen.

“We’re very proud of our final tally raised and would like to thank everyone who supported us,” making special mention of the Parish of The Transfiguration of our Lord in Thomastown for the venue.

“We can’t describe how fulfilling it is to do our little bit to help such a worthy cause. The impact of cancer unfortunately is so wide; most people know someone or are the very person affected. We hope our fundraising efforts will go far in research and finding cures to help combat this terrible disease.”
